The Physiotherapy Department
The aim of the Physiotherapy department is to offer therapy to all children who have problems in movement and posture.
Neuro developmental therapy, motor manipulation and sensory integration form an integral part of therapy.
The Physiotherapy Department is adequately equipped with neuro developmental therapy equipment (vestibular and balance boards, balls etc), positioning aids (rolls, wedges, tilt tables) and mobility aids (walkers, crutches, etc )
General goals of the Department are:
- To achieve near normal functional independence/normal developmental milestones.
- To promote functional independence
- To improve mobility/transfers
- To ensure proper positioning/seating
- To ensure proper follow-up of therapy in both classroom and home situations
- To conduct home visits
The implementation of treatment is carried out as follows:
- Individual sessions
- Group sessions
- Parachute activities
- Snoezelon – a multi-sensory room adds another important dimensions to the physiotherapy programme. It provides a dynamic environment to evoke varied responses from Special Needs Children
- A customised Home Programme handouts is given for each child to parents in order that they may carry out the therapy programme effectively at home.
