Psychologist Department

Initial evaluation of all students at the time of admission is carried out using standardised psychometric assessments. The evaluation helps in placement as well as in the maintenance of a progress record of each student at the Centre.

The role of the Department is multi-dimensional and involves:

• The functional analysis of behaviour to determine the caused of any challenging behaviour.
• The formulation and implementation of individual behavioural intervention programmes.
• The monitoring and management of classroom behaviour
• Play therapy for children with emotional disturbances
• Counselling for adolescent students with adjustment problems.
• Group intervention focusing on social skills, self-concept and self-esteem
• Crises intervention, where students are taught alternative means of coping with emergency situations
• An ongoing parent support group
• Working in close conjunction with the Work Palcement Unit.
• Monitoring of the Self-Awareness Programme for all the students
• Counselling for parents when needed.
