Arabic
The multi-lingual background of the children at Al
Noor necessitates the adoption of English as the language of instruction.
However, the need is also recognized for Arab children to be given instruction
in their mother tongue.
Procedure for entry into the Arabic Unit is as
follows:
- Arab
children are first referred to the Unit
- Their
level of functioning in spoken and written Arabic is assessed
- A
programme is planned for the individual using a Ministry of Education book
for Arab schools ( Grade I and II ). Other books used include Elementary
Arithmetic and practical exercises in Arabic for Primary students.
